Day 1. El Pastor and Pacharán Experience in the Urbasa-Andia Natural Park

09:30 a.m. Departure from Pamplona in private cars from the car park located in front of the Navarra Arena gate. See link for departure to Tierra Estella, to discover the traditions of the life of the Shepherd in the Urbasa and Andia Natural Park, Idiazabal cheese, and the elaboration of the most emblematic Navarrese liqueur; the Pacharan.

People with transportation included, pick up at Pamplona accommodation.

On the way, a short stop at the Church of Santa Maria de Eunate, one of the most beautiful and suggestive churches on the Camino de Santiago. The unsolved mystery about its origin and its disturbing interior fuel the interest of this temple that was a hospital for pilgrims, a dormitory for the dead, a beacon-guide for walkers, a place of Christian worship and an earthly sanctuary for those who seek esoteric forces.

Next, visit Pacharán Azanza. Since its foundation in 1810, Licores Azanza has worked for and for the quality of pacharán, combining tradition and modernity. This tradition continues adding to the productions the selection of new ecotypes grown in the area, obtaining a high quality sloe, for a very fruity pacharán, a natural artisan product and protected by the regulatory council.

EXPERIENCE WITH THE SHEPHERD IN THE NATURAL PARK

Visit to the Cheese Factory to learn about and taste the Idiazabal cheese. We will know first-hand the elaboration and a small introduction of the life of the shepherd. After the visit to the Cheese Factory, we will go to the old borda or typical hut, where the shepherd lived from March to October, and made the cheese during the spring with the milk of the sheep fed on high-altitude pastures; Our herd continues to graze in its surroundings from March to October.

The visit to the hut and its surroundings is a didactic experience in itself, which can only be accessed with the Pastor, as the Natural Park is a protected area. In addition to the attractiveness of the natural environment, it is no less didactic to taste the traditional shepherd's menu in an ideal environment to enjoy a calm atmosphere and great natural beauty. The shepherd's menu that we offer at the hut is the typical menu that shepherds used to cook on their huts in spring, and we have adapted it to our days.

In the afternoon, and as the culmination of this unforgettable experience, we will go to the Iranzu Monastery, hidden in the green valley of Yerri, in a secluded area between mountains. Grand Cistercian abbey built between the 12th and 14th centuries.

- The meal at the Borda of the cheese factory is made with a minimum of 10 adult people.
