I. VIETNAM

On March 15, the Vietnamese government approved the reopening of the country for international tourists. On the same day, the government announced that the visa policy was also resumed to the pre-pandemic state. Unilateral visa waiver policy for citizens of 13 countries: Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, UK, Russia, Japan and South Korea will be extended until March 14, 2025 Thus, citizens of these countries entering Vietnam are exempt from visa for 15 days from the date of entry. Visa on arrival (VOA) and E-visa will apply to citizens of 80 countries .

To enter Vietnam, foreign travelers have to meet the following requirements:

  • By air: travelers must have a medical certificate with a negative RT-PCR result issued no more than 72 hours or a negative rapid test result no more than 24 hours before departure (except children under 2 years of age). The test result must be certified by the official authorities of the country conducting the test.
  • By land, waterway, rail: Travelers must have RT-PCR or rapid test result as entry by air and if they do not have test result before departure, they must take a test (PCR or rapid test) upon arrival at the border gate. If the tests are negative, travelers can carry out other activities under the health protocols
  • Children 2 years of age or younger (as of the calendar year) are exempt from these requirements
  • Travelers must make a medical declaration before entering the website https://tokhaiyte.vn and download the Vietnam COVID-19 mobile application (PC-COVID, available on iOS and Android) during their entire stay in accordance with the regulations.
  • Have health insurance or travel insurance that covers COVID-19 treatment with a minimum coverage of $10,000
  • Travelers have to monitor the state of health during their stay in Vietnam.

    II. CAMBODIA

    On March 17, 2022, Cambodia removes the requirement for PCR tests obtained 72 hours before arrival and rapid tests on arrival. To enter Cambodia, travelers only need to have a vaccination certificate against covid-19 with the complete schedule (minimum 2 doses) provided that at least 14 days have elapsed since the completion of the vaccination schedule . Travelers who have not been fully vaccinated have to be in mandatory quarantine for 14 days at a place designated by the Ministry.

    In addition, the Ministry also announced that the visa on arrival for all travelers to Cambodia is being reinstated and this applies to all travellers, by air, land and sea.

    For visitors to Cambodia, travel insurance is not mandatory, however it is highly recommended to purchase it in case of unexpected medical emergencies.

      III. LAOS

      Laos announced its 3 phases of reopening in 2022. In the first phase, from January 1 to March 30, 2022, tourists from China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, France, the United Kingdom The United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, the United States, Canada and Australia can enter Laos by air through the Wattay International Airport and by land through the First Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge in Vientiane. The Green Travel Zone for the first phase includes Vientiane, Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng. The second phase is from April 1 to June 30, 2022 with the additional Green Travel zones that are Oudomxay, Xayaboury, Xieng Khouang, Khammouane, Savannakhet and Champasack. Phase 3 is scheduled to start on July 1, 2022 and detailed information has not yet been communicated.

      International entry points:

      • During the initial phase, travelers can enter Laos by air through Wattay International Airport and by land through the First Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge in Vientiane Capital.
      • Phase 2 will include Luang Prabang International Airport, Boten-Bohan border with China in Luang Namtha province, Third Friendship Bridge in Thakhek, Second Friendship Bridge in Savannakhet, Chongmek border in Pakse , the Lao Bao border with Vietnam in Savannakhet province, and the Nam Phao (Luk Xao) border with Vietnam in Bolikhamxay province.

      Requirements to enter Laos:

      • (Tourist) visa that can be applied for at the Lao embassy or consulate in your country.
      • Travelers must have a certificate of vaccination against covid-19 with the complete schedule (minimum 2 doses) provided that at least 14 days have elapsed since the completion of the vaccination schedule
      • A medical certificate with a negative RT-PCR result issued no more than 72 hours before arrival in Laos. Those previously infected must have received a dose of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before departure and a recovery certificate.
      • Have medical or travel insurance that covers COVID-19 treatment with a minimum liability of $50,000
      • Travelers have to download and register through the LaoKYC and LaoStaySafe mobile applications before arriving in the country, as well as upload their corresponding vaccination certificate and the results of the Covid-19 tests.
      • Upon arrival, travelers are required to take a Covid-19 test and self-quarantine for 24 hours at their hotel while awaiting results. If the test result is negative, you can move around the Green Travel areas freely and without the need for quarantine. If the test result is positive, travelers will be transferred to an isolation/quarantine facility.

      IV. THAILAND

      Thailand has officially confirmed that the TEST & GO scheme is effective in welcoming fully vaccinated visitors traveling from any country in the world to enter Thailand from February 1, 2022. Travelers must spend their first night in a hotel SHA++ while awaiting their COVID-19 test result (booked, prepaid RT-PCR tests required). After receiving a negative COVID-19 test, travelers are free to travel anywhere in Thailand. On Day 5 you have to do the second test by auto-ATK method (you have to report/record the result through the application).

      Sandbox destinations now expand to Chonburi and Trat in addition to Phuket, Krabi, Phang-nga, Samui, Pattaya and Ko Chang. The Sandbox program now also requires travelers to pay for a PCR test for the first night and on Day 5 the second test must be done by auto-ATK method.

      Requirements to enter Thailand:

      • Travelers must have a vaccination certificate against covid-19 with the complete schedule (minimum 2 doses)
      • A medical certificate with a negative RT-PCR result issued no more than 72 hours before arrival in Thailand.
      • The official confirmation of the SHA Extra Plus accommodation (SHA++) on day 1 as well as the PCR test on the same day (The letter is issued by the hotel once the prepayment has been made via receptive/agency) and a transfer prepared in advance from the airport to the hotel. On Day 5 you have to do the second test by auto-ATK method (you have to report/record the result through the application).
      • Take out medical/travel health insurance with coverage of at least $20,000.
      • Apply the “Thailand Pass” QR code at https://tp.consular.go.th/
      • Download the MorChana App at the hotel.
